For Prashanth Bangalore Sridhar (Prashanth B.S.), Frontier is the fruition of a much cherished entrepreneurial vision. In 1999, armed with a Mechanical Engineering degree from AIME, Prashanth began his journey riddled with its ecstatic highs and depressing lows – nevertheless memorable and enlightening.
It was a time when mechanical engineers ranked low on the employment scale as compared to their IT counterparts. Though Prashanth believed it was his obligation to remedy this situation, being the eldest, finding a job and shouldering family responsibilities took precedence. Before long he landed a job as a Designer in a sheet metal fabrication company. His diligence and determination was paying off. He next joined as Production Engineer in a modular furniture company, soon rising to the position of General Manager.
By now, Prashanth had established a name for himself in the modular furniture market. In 2004, Prashanth together with a friend started their own venture from a small office space in Infantry Road. His company was poised to be at the very forefront, and hence christened ‘Frontier’. The beginnings were rather humble. But before long orders began pouring in. To meet the huge demand for modular furniture, Frontier initially outsourced its work, later acquiring one of the production units.
